A recognized retail company in California is currently seeking an experienced professional to join their team as their new Director, Infrastructure Engineering. In this role, the Director, Infrastructure Engineering will be responsible for overseeing the operation and strategic planning of the the company's Infrastructure to ensure workplace services, network/compute/storage, service management and cloud strategy and operations align with the business objectives.

Responsibilities:

The Director, Infrastructure Engineering will:

  • Evaluate the workplace technologies market, analyze the impact on employee production and regularly evolve roadmaps for these platforms
  • Develop an understanding of the workplace technologies currently in use and the business use cases that they serve
  • Ensure focus on continuous improvement of collaboration platforms, based on latest market trends, to develop a roadmap for a collaborative scalable organization
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement that proactively manages resolution of serious and complex problems, identifying underlying causes and performing corrective action appropriately
  • Implement an overarching, rein in emerging technologies, optimize capital and operating costs and provide new and enhanced customer experiences for employees and clients
  • Evaluate current technology capabilities, risks and roadmap against various department and company goals
  • Oversee contract negotiations with IT vendors, contractors, and service providers
  • Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives
  • Manage strategic relationships between internal IT resources, distinct business units, end users, vendors, and partner organizations
  • Manage financial budgets, resources, and relationships with stakeholders, vendors, and business partners
  • Negotiate and administer vendor and consultant contract and service agreements
  • Conduct regular compliance checks and test operating systems
  • Perform other duties, as needed

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience working with IT infrastructure strategy & operations
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or related field of study
  • Prior experience implementing/supporting complex infrastructure functions preferred
  • Working knowledge of infrastructure architecture, database, cloud and network technologies required
  • A strong business acumen and ability to maintain budgetary control
  • Proven and demonstrated leadership, communication, organization, and effective management of technology projects
  • Solid analytical and problem solving skills
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly organized

Overview:
Our client, a leading global digital sports platform, is seeking a Director of Infrastructure Engineering. This role is pivotal in overseeing the operation and strategic planning of Infrastructure, ensuring alignment with business objectives and efficient workplace services, network/compute/storage, service management, and cloud strategy and operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Information Officer, the Director will lead a team to enhance business operations, support scalability, and drive technological innovation.

Responsibilities:
Lead the day-to-day management of IT operations and infrastructure teams, focusing on delivering best-in-class customer service and operational excellence.
Develop and execute enterprise infrastructure vision and strategy in alignment with business priorities.
Evaluate workplace technologies market, analyze impact on employee production, and evolve roadmaps for these platforms.
Drive continuous improvement of collaboration platforms based on market trends to develop scalable organizational roadmaps.
Oversee technical execution and scaling of enterprise infrastructure and operations.
Analyze business results, providing insights into ongoing trends and performance.
Evaluate current technology capabilities, risks, and roadmap against department and company goals.
Supervise recruitment, development, and retention of infrastructure staff, ensuring growth and innovative solutions.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer engineering, or related field.
10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure strategy and operations.
Strong knowledge of infrastructure architecture, database, cloud, and network technologies.
Proven leadership, communication, organization, and effective management of technology projects.
Exceptional interpersonal, change management, and problem-solving skills.
Rigorous attention to detail, highly organized, and able to operate at all levels.
