Company Overview:
We are a rapidly growing food manufacturing company seeking an experienced Automation Controls Technician to join our team in Hanover, PA. This role is critical in designing, installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining electrical components of our production facility equipment.

Role Description:
As an Automation Controls Technician, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving our automated systems. Experience with programmable controllers, HMIs, and control system design is highly valued. You will troubleshoot various automated production equipment with minimal supervision, reporting directly to the Automation Electrical Control Supervisor.

Qualifications:
  • Experience: 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in the food manufacturing sector.
  • Education: Postsecondary education in automation and robotics is preferred.
  • Skills: Proficiency in managing large-scale projects and capital improvements. Strong knowledge across manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, and preventive functions.
  • Leadership: Ability to lead, mentor, and professionally develop team members.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work off shifts, respond to emergency calls, and travel to manufacturing plants as needed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Equipment Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair manufacturing equipment including motor controls, DC/AC drives, frying and baking equipment, sheeters, extruders, temperature instrumentation, burner systems, packaging machines, electronic scales, and PLCs.
  • Electrical Systems: Troubleshoot electrical wiring, relay logic, control, and safety circuits using schematics and electronic test equipment.
  • Equipment Modification: Review and modify existing equipment to meet safety, quality, and production standards.
  • Programming and Repair: Program, troubleshoot, and repair or replace sensors, scanners, vision systems, motors, VFDs, and encoders.
  • System Upgrades: Manage control system upgrades and integrate new or existing equipment.
  • Design Standards: Develop electrical design standards and create detailed electrical documentation.
  • Hardware/Software Selection: Select and operate necessary hardware and software for control system development.
  • Continuous Improvement: Engage in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes, efficiency, and quality.
