CNC Machinist / Programmer

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • 10+ years of related experience
  • Prefer experienced Journeyman or Vocational training as CNC Machinist
  • Prefer 3+ years of machining experience for progressive die stamping
  • High school or equivalent (Required)

Skills

  • G-Code CNC programming language (must know and understand G-code)
  • Gibbs CAM or comparable 3D Cad software (Mastercam is okay as well)
  • Manual machining (lathe and mill), surface grinding, heat treating
  • CNC mill
  • Fanuc Controls
  • EDM (wire and sinker – we prefer knowledge and experience – but we can teach this)
  • Knowledge of metal characteristics and properties including heat-treating (understanding what specific (metal) materials are used for)

Main Duties:

  • Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models or descriptions, and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines needed to fabricate tooling
  • Sets up and operates machine tools such as, but not limited to lathes, manual mills, surface grinders, saws, etc. (We do not use cylindrical grinders)
  • Operates CNC mill, wire and sinker EDM equipment
  • Creates CNC programs with CAM software
  • Verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications through the use of visual comparators, CMMs, calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks, height gauges, etc.
  • Operates from detailed blueprints yet able to conceptualize and fabricate specialty tooling and fixtures
