The SEED School of Maryland is a statewide, public, college-preparatory boarding school that opened in August 2008. The School has enrolled 400 students in grades six through twelve. The SEED School is an extraordinary educational opportunity for students across the state to receive a tuition-free, college-preparatory, boarding education.

The SEED School of Maryland combines a rigorous and engaging academic curriculum with life skills and enrichment activities to provide students with a thoughtfully balanced learning and living experience. Students and their families commit to a seven-year educational program that offers small class sizes, high quality teaching and learning experiences, mentoring, community service, and extracurricular activities such as sports and arts. The SEED School is centered around its character values: compassion, self-discipline, integrity, respect for oneself and others, responsibility, honesty, and self-determination. The SEED School staff are in partnership with parents, families, and communities to guide and support student success. The School follows a typical academic school year calendar.


SUMMARY


The Cyber SEED Center Director is responsible for setting the vision and tone for the space and its programs. They oversee the day-to-day operations of the facility as well as manage the schedule and calendar of programs. Additional duties include overseeing acquisition and installation of equipment, selection of curriculum, support of educators, recruitment of students, and networking with technology community members through outreach and events.

This position reports to the Director of Academics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


1. Physical Facilities, Maintenance, and Safety

  • or coordinate opening of the Cybers SEED Center daily
  • space services, maintenance, etc.
  • the safety of those in the building by being aware of everyone who enters the building and greeting visitors, making sure the First Aid Kits are continually stocked with necessary supplies, etc.
  • equipment management, including paperwork, and ensure equipment is safely returned.


2. Program Structure and Quality

  • high quality across all Cyber SEED Center programs and events
  • that youth and staff are safe and productive while in the space
  • the annual Master Calendar for all Cyber SEED Center programs and events
  • and document systems, procedures, and organizational structures to support the work done by staff and youth
  • best practices for program delivery and overall Cyber SEED Center success are documented
  • that youth programs and events for all Cyber SEED Center programs are properly staffed
  • that program evaluation components such as surveys, portfolios, etc. are being properly administered and completed and participate in evaluation strategy planning and feedback
  • that work being done in the Tech Center programs is documented via blog posts and shared resources.


3. Outreach and Enrollment

  • appropriate levels of outreach to keep Cyber SEED Center programs and events are at target levels of participation and maintain target enrollment
  • relationships with peer organizations, funders, and external stakeholders through personal communication and collaborative outreach with the Director of Development.


4. Operations and Continuous Professional Development

  • Tech Center operations within the approved annual budget
  • evaluate, and propose new technology tools and resources to solve
  • or enhance the program and stay abreast of current topics in technology education.
  • in professional events and conferences.
  • in research on educational topics and best practices.

5. And other duties as assigned.




MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


  • a Master’s Degree and a minimum of six years of classroom teaching experience.
  • years of educational leadership team experience relevant and of interest, but not required
  • Maryland State Board of Education professional teaching certificate in secondary education and appropriate to the area of assignment is required
  • Security+ and professional certs (e.g., CISSP, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)) relevant and of interest, but not required.
  • strengths required include: a strong commitment to K-12 and college student success; excellent communication and organizational skills; a strong ability to work independently and collaboratively with administrators, teachers/faculty, and staff; a skillful ability to use technology and software to conduct job duties; a demonstrated understanding of and sensitivity to diversity, low-income communities, and high-needs schools; and experience serving as an instructional coach or workplace-based mentoring.
  • and responsibilities include: prepare, teach and evaluate courses at SEED; seek continuous improvement in teaching methodology and student-centered learning; stay current in his/her discipline & develop an individual professional development plan; maintain industry certifications.
