Our team is driving the hiring process for Aerospace Engineers and Electrical Engineers with aerospace and defense experience. Ideal candidates will posses a minimum of 3 years of experience in various electrical engineering disciplines throughout aviation, defense, and space. As an Aerospace Engineer with one of our industry leading partners, you will play a crucial role in the design, development, testing, and production of cutting-edge aerospace technologies for both commercial and defense applications. Ideal candidates will have direct aerospace experience with collaboration within multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative solutions that meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance.

Specifically, qualified candidates for this Aerospace Electrical Engineer role will engage in a broad range of engineering activities as a member of a diverse team working to design the next generation of small satellites. This role focuses on digital design of complex Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) designs used in space applications, but also encompasses various aspects of electrical engineering in aerospace and defense.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as an interface between the electrical engineering team and the systems team, developing system-level solutions to technical challenges.
  • Participate in trade studies, architecture proposals, and operation plans for satellite systems.
  • Perform detailed, data-driven analysis to guide design decisions.
  • Review and provide feedback on subsystem designs to ensure robustness and compliance with electrical requirements.
  • Create and maintain detailed design documentation and hold formal and informal system design reviews.
  • Develop and maintain requirements for electrical design projects, collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Design both flex and round wire harnessing and generate schematics using ECAD tools.
  • Analyze and simulate satellite electrical systems using appropriate tools.
  • Generate FPGA designs based on detailed design requirements using VHDL.
  • Verify margin, compliance, and fault robustness of high-speed serial interfaces using simulation methods.
  • Capture requirements, create state diagrams, timing diagrams, and other design documentation.
  • Develop constraints for and synthesize FPGA designs using ISE, Libero, Libero SoC, and Vivado tool suites.
  • Debug hardware in a laboratory environment using common lab equipment.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, Test, Software, and other specialized teams.


Required Qualifications:

  • BS degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of hardware design experience, including at least 1 year of FPGA design experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge of electrical engineering and system-level design.
  • Proficiency with at least one schematic capture/layout tool and one spice-based simulation tool.
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python, or other scripting languages.
  • Experience designing for harsh or mission-critical environments such as aerospace, automotive, aviation, medical, or naval.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with clock domain crossing (CDC) tools, AXI based design, DMA, and scripting tools.


Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with digital board design and interpreting schematics.
  • Knowledge of embedded processor-based electronics architecture.
  • Ability to work independently and with limited supervision.
  • Experience with EMI/EMC standards and designing electronics for complex space-grade products.
  • Familiarity with design tools such as Altium Design, LTSpice, and Siemens HyperLynx.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment on both R&D and production projects.
  • Strong interpersonal and self-leadership skills, with a focus on developing highly integrated CubeSat and FPGA design solutions.


Nice to Have Qualifications:

  • Active or past security clearance, demonstrating eligibility to work on sensitive aerospace and defense projects.
  • Previous military experience, providing firsthand knowledge of aerospace operations and requirements.
  • Experience working with industry leaders such as Boeing, Airbus, Collins Aerospace, Lockheed Martin, Rockwell Collins, Raytheon, Honeywell, Blue Origin, Northrop Grumman, ULA, NASA, or similar organizations, indicating familiarity with industry standards, processes, and best practices.


How Success Will Be Measured:

  • The contractor will be paired with a Lead Electrical Engineer who will provide feedback on performance to both the contractor and the Director of Electrical Engineering.
