Nature of Work
This position is the supervising engineer for the OEHS Beckley District Office. This position performs professional engineering work for a variety of technical assignments requiring engineering education, training, and experience to assist water systems to operate and comply with current and future agency rules, regulations and operating procedures, with an emphasis on public water supplies regulated under the Safe Drinking Water Act.
The Engineer will:
- Conduct inspections, investigations, and evaluations of water and wastewater systems for the benefit of public health and the environment.
- Review and evaluate engineering reports, plans and project sites.
- Provide professional and technical assistance regarding public health engineering concerns. Furnish administrative and technical assistance regarding water and wastewater systems during emergencies.
- Respond to concerns of the general public and public officials.
Minimum Qualifications
Training: Current Professional Engineer (PE) license issued by the West Virginia State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers.
AND
Experience: Seven (7) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in engineering, in which three (3) years must be as a licensed Professional Engineer.
Note: The experience must have been acquired after the bachelor’s degree but may have occurred before or after registration as a professional engineer.
