We are excited to announce an opportunity for an experienced Financial Analyst to join an award winning national law firm. This individual will play a vital role in enhancing the Firm’s financial reporting, analysis, and pricing strategies. In this position, you will be responsible for producing a range of financial reports and assisting with pricing and budgeting initiatives. As part of the Business Analytics team, you will conduct in-depth financial analyses, manage pricing strategies, and support monthly ad hoc reporting efforts.


Collaboration will be key in this role, as you will work closely with Practice Group Leaders, the Executive Committee, Chiefs, Directors, and other decision-makers to deliver profitable solutions. Additionally, you will contribute to strategic projects, including the development of the Firm's real-time financial dashboard and profitability module. This hybrid position allows for flexibility, requiring you to be onsite in our Los Angeles office at least 2 days a week.


Key Responsibilities

  • Generate and distribute monthly financial performance reports.
  • Conduct financial analysis and management reporting on key operational metrics.
  • Oversee compensation reporting and collaborate with the Payroll team.
  • Analyze historical data to inform pricing proposals and establish billing rates.
  • Support strategic pricing initiatives through financial modeling and analysis.
  • Extract and summarize data from multiple sources for internal and client reports.
  • Respond to financial and statistical surveys.
  • Provide ad hoc financial reporting and analysis for attorneys, policy advisors, and management.
  • Assist in the annual budget process.
  • Contribute to developing and implementing profitability models and analyses.
  • Help create financial tools, processes, and best practices for reporting and analysis.
  • Undertake special projects for the Executive Committee, Chief Operating Officer, and other senior leaders.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in financial analysis, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, data science, computer science, statistics, mathematics, economics, or a related field is required.
  • Understanding of law firm business processes, pricing, budgeting, and operations.
  • Advanced skills in financial modeling and spreadsheet functionalities.
  • Proficient in data analysis and presenting findings to management and legal teams.
  • Experience with SQL or Excel Power Query is a plus.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools and financial dashboards is advantageous.
  • Preferred experience with Aderant as a time and billing system, including general ledger and reporting.
  • A proactive mindset with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
