Marion, United States Insight Recruitment Full time

Are you a dynamic problem solver with a relentless passion for turning ideas into reality? Are you a constant learner with an infectious upbeat personality, driven by ambition and a self-starter who thrives on autonomy? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Administrator to join our team, and we're looking for someone who not only possesses technical expertise but also embodies a proactive and independent spirit. If you're adept in the world of Windows Server, VMWare, Cisco, Azure, Active Directory, and SQL, and you're eager to take your career to new heights, then you might be the ideal candidate we're searching for.

If you're ready to take the lead, eager to grow alongside cutting-edge technologies, and passionate about transforming innovative ideas into actionable solutions, we invite you to explore this opportunity further. Join us in a dynamic and collaborative environment where you won't just fit in; you'll thrive, lead, and drive our IT infrastructure to new horizons.

The Senior Systems Administrator will be tasked with working across a broad range of technologies and/or depth in few technologies. This may include support for servers, host systems, voice, data, automation, security, storage networks, cloud systems, and domain management. In this role you will be responsible for delivering robust, reliable, and scalable solutions and keeping IT systems and the business running while enabling quick responses to both geographic growth and IT systems growth. You can also expect to be involved with the strategy infrastructure and/or end user systems and project planning.

The Role

  • Collaborate with all IT staff to implement robust, reliable, and scalable infrastructure, security, and or end user systems (rather than the low-cost solutions with higher TCO) that will advance the IT strategy
  • Evaluate, Plan, Lead and/or execute lifecycle replacement of systems – physical hosts/servers, SAN’s, switches, access points, other networking equipment, and Server OS updates and upgrades, or end user software
  • Participate in planning for these lifecycle replacement projects
  • Responsible, along with the team, to maintain uptime of critical systems
  • Evaluate, Plan, Lead and/or execute new site implementation projects
  • Evaluate, Plan, Lead and/or execute security and vulnerability patching and other security initiatives
  • Evaluate, Plan, Lead and/or participate in the effort to gather input from business plans, application owners, life cycle replacements and emerging technologies to create future plans
  • Lead cross functional teams to evaluate new systems. Plan and lead projects to implement these systems in a way that minimizes support requirements
  • Provide technical counseling and guidance to junior team members
  • Lead collaborative efforts with the larger IT team to establish technical standards
  • Document system standards and/or end user guides
  • Apply analytical skills to resolve complex problems.
  • Identify and mitigate risk.
  • Train other IT team members to empower them to support systems
  • Develop proposals to recommend solutions using performance benchmarks, data, and critical analysis when requested
  • Build out and/or define meaningful metrics and leverage them for continuous improvement
  • Continuous education and/or monitoring of industry trends and technologies that are relevant
  • Act as a point of escalation to provide level 2/3 support for server, host systems, voice, data, automation, security, storage networks, cloud systems, and domain management.
  • Responsible for afterhours call rotation
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Skills and Experience

  • Experience with technologies such as Windows Server, Azure, VMware, SQL, and Active Directory
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities
  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment with a level of self-initiative to do this without management support
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Ability to lead team projects
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Available to work in a 24-hour, 7 day a week environment
  • Network fundamentals with Cisco experience preferred
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in systems' administration.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an IT or Engineering discipline preferred. Equivalent experience with demonstrated results and experience considered.
