The Training Director role at the Bay City Joint Electrical Apprenticeship and Training Committee offers a leadership opportunity to shape the future of the local electrical workforce. The Training Director will oversee, manage, and promote all learning, training, and developmental programs within our Electrical Apprenticeship Training Program. The primary goal is to provide our signatory Contractors with the most well-trained workforce possible. Your efforts will contribute to community well-being by fostering a well-trained workforce and promoting safety and economic prosperity in Bay City.


Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Oversee day-to-day activities associated with the position
  • Ensure a thorough understanding of the Apprenticeship Standards and the Statement of Policy, including disciplinary responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with the Local Union’s Collective Bargaining Agreement and Department of Labor regulations
  • Manage instructional staff, including hiring and dismissal responsibilities
  • Evaluate apprentice classroom and work performance
  • Recruit new applicants for the Apprenticeship and maintain existing apprentices
  • Manage the Application Process, including Aptitude Testing and Interviews
  • Maintain current and updated Ranking List and Contractor Calls List
  • Maintain the Training Center facilities and equipment


Qualifications:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong persuasive and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to identify and meet Apprentice Committee needs
  • Strong leadership skills, including diplomacy, honesty, judgment, and trust-building
  • Experience in leadership roles associated with electrical training
  • Experience with financial and human resources management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Self-starter with problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under time constraints
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with specific variables
  • Some travel required


Special Consideration:

  • Degree in business, education, or related field preferred
  • Knowledge of electrical construction industry or apprenticeship program procedures advantageous
