Summary:

Responsible for the raw material planning and purchasing activities needed to support the production of all finished goods for the manufacturing facility. The position maintains communication channels with suppliers, internal customers and the Purchasing Department, and is accountable for the coordination of raw material orders, inventory levels, expedite/prioritize release, safety stock positions, disposition of materials and identification of cost reduction initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directly supports the procurement and disposition of raw materials in response to MRP and Manufacturing requirements.
  • Obtain materials in economic order quantities that maximize value and minimize total cost (e.g. optimized inventory levels).
  • Assist in the annual standard costing process and provide price forecasts. Maintain standard costing program to ensure a positive PPV.
  • Supports materials management systems, plant projects, negotiations and sustaining of contract terms and conditions with suppliers.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with all levels within Baxter; ensure that procurement processes meet the requirements of Baxter and suppliers.
  • Monitor and disposition obsolete parts and supplier returns for rejected products and help resolve supplier's quality issues.
  • Monitor changes to assigned commodities to alert purchasing management and the Division to major price/availability fluctuations that will impact the Division's cost or ability to conduct business.
  • Develop knowledge of production planning in order to be the Finished Goods Planner Backup and be able to schedule finished goods (FG) production on manufacturing lines if needed.
  • Learn, understand and apply rigorous quality standards, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
  • Identify and inform manager of excess, slow move and obsolete inventory issues.
  • Recommends and drives actions to resolve issues.
