Position Description:

Develops PL/SQL packages, functions, and stored procedures. Gathers and analyzes business requirements and provides database engineering solutions for data acquisition, data strategy implementation, and data quality and governance. Develops Data Quality Checks to validate sourced data using Oracle Enterprise Data Quality Tool. Develops and maintains middle-tier software applications using Java. Hosts software on Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud using EC2, ALB, IAM, VPC, and Cloud Watch. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participates in architecture design teams.
  • Defines and implements application-level architecture.
  • Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
  • Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
  • Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
  • Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
  • Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
  • Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
  • Performs data profiling to deliver new database solutions.
  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.
  • Mentors junior team members.
  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing and developing database solutions to support compliance functions in an asset management environment.

Or, alternatively, Master s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing and developing database solutions to support compliance functions in an asset management environment.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise (\u201CDE\u201D) designing and developing fund information platform applications to perform complex functionalities according to business requirements in Oracle, using PL/SQL stored procedures, Toad, and SQL Developer; and developing Application Programing Interfaces (API s)\u00A0 (using Java) and hosting them on AWS Cloud (using EC2, S3, VPC, and Datadog); and performing unit and functional testing for APIs using Cucumber and Fitnesse.
  • DE applying Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices on database releases, including automated deployments, using ECS, EKS/Docker, Jenkins, and Urban Code Deploy (uDeploy); applying software development best practices for PL/SQL packages, Java middle-tier source code, GitHub repositories, and Jenkins Jobs; and performing source code management (using Git and Bitbucket).
  • DE designing and developing Business Intelligence (BI) solutions to create dashboards and consumer ready reports, using OBIEE, Oracle BI publisher reporting, and Tableau; and performing data modeling logical, physical, and presentation using Oracle RPD tool; performing data analysis by collecting, cleaning, sorting, and processing raw data to extract relevant and valuable information to derive insights from data.
  • DE designing complex data environments in an engineering, design, and architecture capacity in enterprise Data Lakes and marts and Operations Databases, using Erwin and Power Designer; modelling database tables using Power BI and supporting business critical applications within a financial services and asset management compliance environment; and driving epics, stories, and tasks, using project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, or Kanban) and Jira.
