What we need:

Wise Pelican is seeking a cross-department Project Manager to join our team. This is a new role for the company, so you will be pioneering the systems and processes.

You will create a system that emphasizes transparency and accountability across the organization. You will work with our technical project managers on our development teams, but this will be a separate role/department.

You will be responsible for ensuring that all assigned tasks have assigned completion dates/deadlines. This role will work closely with the CEO.


About the Role:

As a Project Manager, you will coordinate a variety of projects and tasks, from structured and definitive “waterfall”-style projects to reviewing meeting transcripts to identify action items and ensure that they are completed by the assignee in a timely manner.


  • Strategic Collaboration: Collaborate with senior leadership and various team managers to develop project briefs with clear objectives and priorities aligned with strategic goals. This involves turning strategic discussions into actionable project plans that align with the company’s long-term vision.
  • Cross-Functional Teamwork: Partner with various teams to transform departmental requirements into actionable plans, effectively managing project timelines and stakeholder communications. This includes converting meeting outputs into clear tasks and deliverables.
  • Project Management: Ensure the timely completion of all tasks, using tools like JIRA to meticulously track progress and update all necessary assets before project launch. Foster a culture of accountability and precision to keep projects on track and within budget.
  • Effective Communication: Maintain open lines of communication across teams, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned throughout the project lifecycle. Focus on transforming discussions and decisions made in meetings into structured, actionable steps that drive project momentum.
  • Team Leadership: Promote a positive team environment, fostering high performance and quality outcomes. Cultivate a strong follow-up culture where team members are encouraged to complete tasks within set deadlines and maintain continual progress updates.


How you stand out:

  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely progress and adherence to quality standards.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to work with team members at all levels (including management) and enforce project management principles including setting completion dates and holding individuals accountable.
  • Technical Proficiency: Ability to rapidly learn new systems. Strong command of JIRA (though we’re open to hearing ideas for other systems)
  • Proactive and Results-Driven Attitude: Focus on project completion and success, coupled with a commitment to continuous learning and application of new knowledge.
  • Attention to Detail: Keen attention to both granular details and the overall scope of projects.
  • Formal Education and Certification: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Experience: Prior experience in managing projects in a multinational setting and in leadership roles within project management, particularly in marketing or technology sectors.
