MAU is hiring a Model Shop Technician for C+K Plastics in Conyers, GA. As a Model Shop Technician, you will design and build fixtures to support manufacturing processes, perform tool repairs, and collaborate with the engineering department to develop and refine manufacturing prototypes. This is a direct-hire opportunity.

Shift Information:

  • Monday to Friday | 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM


Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role is preferred; however, training will be provided for adaptable candidates


General Requirements:

  • Strong manual dexterity and experience working with wood, metal, or plastic materials
  • General mechanical skills and proficiency in basic tools and equipment
  • Experience in model-making and pattern-making


Preferred Requirements:

  • Knowledge of welding
  • Ability to read blueprints and design simple fixtures


Essential Functions:

  • Construct CNC and assembly fixtures for various processes, including welding, cutting, routing, gluing, bending, and other operations involving plastic parts
  • Prepare and mount patterns for sample shots or foundry castings
  • Set up tools and fixtures before each production run
  • Perform minor tool repairs and routine maintenance as needed
  • Collaborate with the Engineering department on new product samples and design validation
  • Manufacture prototypes according to blueprint specifications and instructions
  • Adhere to all safety policies and plant regulations
  • Foster teamwork by effectively communicating and collaborating with all levels of plant personnel
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment
  • Perform additional duties as assigned


Work Environment or Working Conditions:

  • You will work on the manufacturing floor and in a designated model shop area. The work environment may include exposure to dust and varying hot and cold temperatures. The employee must be able to wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to comply with company and government safety standards.


Physical Demands:

  • Ability to walk, stand, and lift heavy objects, up to 50 lbs.
