Job Description

The Senior Electrical Engineer provides electrical expertise to the design team and acts as the primary point of contact for electrical related project issues. Daily tasks require the ability apply electrical theory and practical knowledge in the lifecycle of projects, including the ability to:

Perform electrical calculations (size breakers, fuses, starters, transformers, conductors, raceway and calculate total loads, heat loss, voltage drop)

Keep engineering deliverables on time, every time and within budget

Read and interpret customer job specifications

Design electrical systems, select components and complete a BOM

Submit materials for order

Review and approve design packages

Prepare submittals to shop and customer

Interface with sales, customer and shop

Direct designers in completing wiring diagrams

Develop ITP and assist in customer FAT

 Interpret redlines to develop As-Built drawings


Job Requirements

BS Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Technology

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in design of power systems, lighting systems, UPS systems, grounding systems, and utility systems

Must be able to work remote and have flexibility to meet business needs

Ability to test or assist in testing of MV, LV gear and control systems is required to validate the performance of electrical equipment

Basic computer skills using AutoCAD Electrical and MS Office products

Able to apply NEC, UL, ANSI, TDLR and other codes as it applies to the day-to-day activity

Ability to interact on a regular basis with shop personnel

Able to apply product knowledge and technical skills to solve simple application problems independently with minimum supervision

Able to read and interpret electrical symbols, characters, and modify drawings

Basic understanding of power system and relay applications as applied to products

Able to design one product in the most economical way while achieving quality

Learn policies and procedures, work instruction, ISO policies, Safety Rules and Regulations, and vendor products

Conduct site visits for project and customer support (10%)

Must possess or be able to obtain BASIC safety and a TWIC card

Strong written and verbal communication skills are required

Strong background in technical writing preferred
