Arthrex is a global medical device company and leader in orthopedics medical education. With a corporate mission of Helping Surgeons Treat Their Patients Better™, Arthrex has pioneered the field of arthroscopy and develops more than 1,000 innovative products and procedures each year that support all aspects of orthopedics. The Knee & Hip Arthroscopy Engineering team in Naples, FL is responsible for supporting all product development activities, as well as the maintenance of the products within the portfolio. We are searching for a Co-op pursuing a Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering degree to support the Engineering team. A successful candidate will assist the engineering team with Solidworks modeling and drawings (creating new and editing current), draft documentation as needed, attend verification testing and validation labs, and various other engineering activities with guidance from the engineering staff. The individual should have a firm understanding of Solidworks CAD modeling software, and will be detail oriented in the execution and documentation that is requested.
This Co-op will run from January 2025 – June 2025. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work 40 hours per week at our Naples, FL facility.
Main Objective:
Co-op will work with the Knee & Hip Arthroscopy Engineering department to gain experience in research, design, testing, and development of medical devices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support the engineering team by attending verification testing, ensuring test protocols were followed and attend validation labs to gain a better understanding of anatomy and Arthrex products.
- Student will attend training sessions, symposiums, departmental meetings etc. as required.
- Utilize CAD software, such as SolidWorks, for drawing creation and prototyping/modeling.
- Effectively works with peers, project team members, and other departments in new product development, product line extensions, and product enhancements.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering, or a recent graduate. Junior or above required.
(Students who have recently graduated are only eligible to work as an intern/co-op up to six months from their graduation date.) - Prior design software experience, such as CAD, Solidworks, Keyshot, Adobe Suite or Figma, required.
- Must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements /Specialized Courses and/or Training:
Ability to effectively communicate, orally and in writing and possess the ability to work through technical issues.
Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:
- Knowledge of surgical equipment and instrumentation, mechanical testing equipment, PC, ProEngineer or other 3D modeling software a plus.
