We are seeking a dedicated Manager of Vendor Outsourcing to join our R&D Sourcing and Contracting team. This role will support pre-clinical, clinical sourcing, and contract negotiation for Gilead's global Phase I-IV clinical trials and other ad hoc projects. The ideal candidate must be adept at reviewing and negotiating business terms and supporting the negotiation of legal terms, with strong organizational skills to manage contract documentation effectively. This position requires excellent communication skills to interact with internal and external teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Contract Review and Negotiation: Review contracts quickly, negotiate business terms, and support the negotiation of legal terms.
- Sourcing and Contracting: Focus on clinical operations, specialty laboratory, and functional services, including sourcing and contract negotiation.
- Vendor Selection Process: Assist in the entire lifecycle of vendor selection, including RFI, RFP, vendor selection decision, contract negotiation, managing change orders, and proper closeout of agreements.
- Issue Resolution: Assist Vendor Outsourcing staff in resolving moderately complex issues related to contract negotiation or management.
- Collaboration: Work with internal customers and the Legal department to assist in the contract negotiation process, especially for less complex or low-value contracts.
- Communication: Maintain excellent communication with internal and external teams, including clinical operations, finance, legal, business conduct, vendor management, and payments.
- Project Management: Complete tasks and projects under minimal supervision, managing competing priorities effectively and proficiently.
- Cataloging Terms and Conditions: Ensure appropriate cataloging of terms and conditions into a database.
Basic Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum of 3+ years of experience in vendor outsourcing, contract negotiation, or a related field.
- Contracting Framework: Familiarity with contracting framework and general legal terms.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills to manage and catalog terms and conditions.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to interact comfortably with internal and external teams.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Industry Experience: Experience in clinical operations, specialty laboratory, or functional services sourcing.
- Legal Acumen: Understanding of legal terms and conditions related to contracts.
- Database Management: Experience in cataloging terms and conditions into a database.
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Location: Based in Foster City, CA. Remote work is considered for well-qualified candidates with a hybrid model requiring 2 to 3 days on site.
- Travel: Limited travel may be required for this role.
