Product Development Coordinator

Hybrid schedule on-site 3x per week (Tues-Thurs) New York, NY

Contract to possible perm position


Responsibilities: Provide overall project support to the PD team by helping to brainstorm on concept, creating mood boards, pulling trend reports and analyzing competitor landscape. The Coordinator will also be responsible for adding in formula codes, ordering samples with collaboration with the R&D team, organizing product bins, etc.


Must be Comfortable working within a fast paced environment and able to work independently, proficient in both PowerPoint and Outlook, highly organized, and flexible.



Position Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Product Development Coordinator is the daily assisting of the innovation process for new and existing products from concept ideation through formula development. The concentration for this position is in the Lip category. Support in areas including trend watching, product development, product testing, consumer insight and competitive research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in brainstorming sessions for new concepts
  • Develop comprehensive product snapshots - focusing on product description, key insights, technologies, desired claims, and testing
  • Lead any sample requests & distribution for forecasting, creative, packaging, photography, presentations, testing, etc.
  • Analyze competitive market to prepare competitive reports or landscapes in Lip as necessary.
  • Attend industry relevant conferences/shows and recap key industry trends and product innovations.
  • Submitting all shades for legal & sustainability review and manage follow ups
  • Work with R&D and Packaging to assure that samples are prepared for brand presentations and distribution.
  • Manage organization of labeling of samples in bins and on trays
  • Assist in the development and execution of presentations and/or digital content for the department including swatches, mood boards as needed.
  • [Special Focus] Participate in formula submission reviews with project lead
  • [Special Focus] Creating and maintaining shade lineup documents for 5 star programs
  • [Special Focus] Conduct in-house product tests including recruiting and development of questionnaires.
  • [Special Focus to start] Conduct shade swatching sessions by recruiting multiple skintones and swatching out lineups for photography
  • [Special Focus to start] Prep samples for submission review with project lead, and maintain/send out feedback trackers
  • [Special Focus to start] Own prototype purchasing, labeling & distribution to labs


Qualifications:

  • 4-year college degree
  • 1-2 years related experience. Strong sense of fashion, color knowledge, and makeup trends
  • Makeup or internship experience in Beauty is a plus
  • Highly organized
  • Strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with a high level of detail.
  • Able to handle a fast-paced corporate business environment, work well under pressure and problem solve arising issues.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Skilled in Microsoft Word, Teams, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
