Hughes Socol Piers Resnick & Dym, Ltd. (HSPRD), a Chicago-based law firm with a national practice, seeks a law student Summer Associate who is currently a 1L to work with the firm’s Complex Litigation group, which has a practice concentrated in the areas of Civil Rights & Constitutional Law, Labor & Employment Law, and False Claims Act/Qui Tam litigation.

We seek a Summer Associate to work with the firm on complex civil litigation matters. The Summer Associate will assist attorneys in all aspects of litigation in federal and state court, including developing new cases, client contact, discovery and motion practice, and all stages of litigation. The Summer Associate will have the opportunity to work with a variety of partners and associates on our active litigation docket. The position will pay $1,000 per week for 8 to 10 weeks. The start date is flexible within the months of May or June 2025. This is an in-office position with significant flexibility as HSRPD continues to operate with a hybrid model.

Qualifications
Ideal candidates will have:
• Exceptional legal research, writing, and analytic skills;
• Demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in complex litigation on issues related to constitutional law, discrimination, workers’ rights, immigrants’ rights, government misconduct, and class actions;
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and persuasively;
• Excellent organizational abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously;
• Ability to work independently as well as within a team;
• Demonstrated experience with or commitment to one or more issues central to the group’s practice; and
• Fluency in Spanish is valued, though not required.
