Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This job description outlines key responsibilities but is not all-inclusive. Other duties may be assigned and expected as part of the role.
- Plan, layout, and perform electrical operations for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical services, equipment, and wiring in plant departments or offices. This includes work on motors, generators, switchboards, lighting and power circuits, starters, cranes, hoists, and other auxiliary equipment.
- Disassemble units, identify issues, repair or replace defective parts or wiring, and reassemble.
- Install computer or numerically controlled equipment, troubleshoot issues, determine the extent of trouble, and resolve the problem. Disassemble, clean, and repair motors, then reassemble.
- Connect and wire motors for proper operation, including forward and reverse rotation for various motor types (D.C. and induction A.C.).
- Install and wire motors and mechanisms for machine tools such as lathes, fabricating equipment, punch presses, and heat-treating equipment, including controls and transformers.
- Install various circuit types and detect and diagnose faulty operations or defective materials.
- Refer complex issues to the supervisor and provide recommendations for equipment improvements.
- Periodically inspect electrical apparatus for preventive maintenance or to identify electrical trouble.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area and perform additional related duties as required.
- Carry out other maintenance tasks under the supervision of the department foreman or other designated supervisors.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Massachusetts Journeyman Electrician License.
- 5+ years of industrial experience.
- Ability to use shop arithmetic and work from wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, and floor layouts.
- Proficiency in using electrical measuring instruments and understanding electrical formulas, fundamentals of electricity, electrical equipment operations, and electrical code requirements.
- Self-motivated and able to take ownership of work quality and schedule.
- Open to continuous improvement to support efficient and flexible operations.
- A team player who collaborates effectively with others to ensure smooth processes and improvements.
- Customer-focused, working closely with internal and external team members to meet customer needs.
- Strong judgment in making timely decisions to complete tasks under time constraints.
