Job Description:

As an Electrical Projects Estimator, you will be responsible for accurately estimating the costs and resources required for electrical projects undertaken by the organization. Your role will involve analyzing project specifications, conducting component selection assessments, and collaborating closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure precise estimations. Leveraging your expertise in electrical systems, knowledge of industry standards, and understanding of project requirements, you will provide detailed and reliable estimates for electrical power distribution centers and upgrades.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Cost Estimation: Analyze electrical project requirements, including materials, labor, equipment, and other resources, to estimate the overall cost of the project accurately.
  2. Quantity Takeoff: Conduct quantity takeoffs from electrical drawings and specifications to determine the quantities of materials needed for electrical installations.
  3. Budget Preparation: Collaborate with project managers and other team members to prepare detailed project budgets based on estimated costs and resource requirements for electrical components.
  4. Bid Preparation: Prepare bid documents and proposals for electrical projects, including cost breakdowns, timelines, and other relevant information.
  5. Vendor and Supplier Relations: Communicate with electrical vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing for materials and services required for electrical projects.
  6. Risk Assessment: Identify and assess potential risks and uncertainties associated with electrical project costs and provide recommendations to mitigate them.
  7. Value Engineering: Work with project teams to explore cost-saving opportunities through value engineering and alternative electrical systems without compromising quality or safety.
  8. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of electrical estimates, contracts, and other relevant project documents in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  9. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on electrical industry trends, cost trends, and new technologies to improve estimation accuracy and efficiency for electrical projects.
  10. Collaboration: Collaborate closely with project managers, electrical engineers, , and other stakeholders to ensure alignment between electrical project requirements and estimated costs.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field.
  • Proven experience as an estimator in the electrical industry, with a strong understanding of electrical systems, materials, and costs.
  • Proficiency in electrical estimating software and tools.
  • Excellent analytical and mathematical skills, with a focus on electrical calculations.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in estimating electrical projects.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Certification (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator, Certified Electrical Professional) is a plus.

 

The role of Electrical Projects Estimator requires a deep understanding of electrical systems, strong analytical skills, and effective communication to ensure that electrical projects are accurately estimated within budgetary constraints. This position is critical in supporting the successful planning and execution of electrical installations and upgrades.
