Basic Job Functions:

The Occupational Health Coordinator is an active member of the division safety team. They are responsible for taking initiative to implement actions and build our division safety culture. They must lead, influence, coach and teach the division teammates.

The responsibilities of Occupational Health Coordinator include, but are not limited to:

  • Workers Compensation Claim Management
  • Developing, organizing and delivering Health and Wellness training
  • Compiling, reviewing and reporting injury/illness statistics
  • Administrating the plant drug, alcohol, hearing conservation and vision testing programs
  • Participating in division and company safety activities, initiatives and audits in the plant
  • Emergency response team planning
  • Reviewing, developing and authoring safety and health policies and procedures
  • Assist with JSA / Work Instruction development
  • Assist in incident investigations; support other department roles as needed

This position requires availability for communication 24/7 for emergencies, however, routinely works day shift, Monday through Friday. Applicants must have willingness and ability to travel several times per year, up to a week at a time, for safety meetings, audits and best marking. This is a professional position with a high degree of autonomy and responsibility. This position is a member of the Safety & Health Team and must be able to collaborate as part of their day-to-day.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • NY State Nursing License (LPN or RN) or NY State Paramedic
  • No relatives employed at Auburn, New York. Per Nucor Personnel Policy #21 a relative is defined as a spouse, sibling, son, daughter, or parent, including step, half, and in-law relations of same
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in an industrial setting
  • Occupational health experience
  • General Knowledge of Workers Compensation, OSHA, and ADA
  • Experience in occupational health and safety program development and training
