JOB SUMMARY
The Platform Engineer falls under the direction of the Sr IT Manager
This position is a Hands-on role that supports and provides solutions that contribute to the success of daily business operations within our cloud and on-prem environments
The platform engineer is responsible for deploying, troubleshooting and maintaining platform resources (infrastructure, networking, infrastructure as code)
The platform engineer will be required to perform application, server, database maintenance, and data analysis as well as creating health and monitoring reports
The person in this position will be required to lead and participate in projects, prioritize, and plan their work and he work of others
The Platform Engineer will also be an active partner in working with the business to provide value through technology.  The person in this position demonstrates an ability to manage ambiguity, applies knowledge of the business to advance organizational goals, and comfortably navigates complex policy, people, and process-related organizational dynamics.

Essential Functions
  1. Responsible for deploying, maintaining and troubleshooting core business applications including application servers, associated hardware or endpoints, and databases.
  2. Responsible for installing and configuring software as required.
  3. Responsible for performing system maintenance, monitoring system activity, gathering system statistics, follow up on reported errors and alarms.
  4. Responsible for providing after-hours on call support for production emergencies and escalating issues.
  5. Proactively analyzes system for finding root cause of issues as well as analyzing existing and new use case configurations
  6. Responsible for maintaining and improving all application and database monitoring
  7. Proactively seeks systems improvements by performing regular performance monitoring and capacity analysis; recommend systems upgrades and hardening as appropriate.
  8. Responsible for documenting all issues and resolution steps using the help desk ticketing system.
  9. Provide technical mentorship to team members by providing SME expertise.
  10. Responsible for maintaining inventory of all hardware and software resources and parts.
  11. Works on cross-functional projects with other IT groups
  12. Oversee and work with outside vendors and other business units as needed.
  13. Responsible for leading and participating in project activities such as software rollouts, systems upgrades and hardware replacement.
  14. Responsible for application troubleshooting / escalated desktop support responsibilities where applicable
  15. Works with key stakeholders to deliver business value using creative and effective approaches.
  16. Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience requirements: 
  • Bachelor???s degree from accredited four-year college or university; plus 8 plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Cloud Best Practices and proven experience
  • AWS Certifications is a plus
  • Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code experience
  • Boomi or similar integration platform experience
  • Strong scripting/automation experience
  • Container and Container platform experience (i.e
    Kubernetes or similar)
  • API Management experience (i.e
    Apigee or similar)
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • utilizing an ITSM ticket tool 
  • Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP networking, and related network services (i.e
    DNS, SMTP, DHCP, etc.)
  • Extensive knowledge of Active Directory concepts and administration
  • Some experience with the ability to manage and troubleshoot Windows environments preferred.
  • Some experience with the ability to manage and troubleshoot Linux environments preferred.
  • Programming experience a plus but not required (.net, c#, powershell)
  • DevSecOps experience is a plus
