About the job

In this customer-facing role, the successful candidate will be responsible for the design and development of conventional and high-performance brake discs for passenger cars and truck applications. The scope of responsibility spans the entire product development lifecycle from quotation, through design, development, validation, customer acceptance, series production.


Responsibilities:

Primary point of contact to OEM customers for the application project including:

  1. technical presentation content and delivery
  2. customer milestone synchronization
  3. customer expectation alignment
  4. prototype order status
  5. issue tracking/resolution/reporting
  6. critical item escalation

Planning and timely execution of all Engineering work products required to meet the master program timing and project gate reviews, including:

  1. organization/assessment of customer requirements and deviations
  2. Design/analysis activities: calculations, packaging, CAD/CAE requests, DFMEA
  3. Order and procurement of prototype test parts, internal and customer
  4. bench testing - DVPR/PVPR content, test lab requests and facilitation, test data review and approval
  5. customer engineering approval of results for PPAP
  6. organization/storage of project documentation at SOP
  7. management of technical product design changes throughout program lifecycle


Desired Skills and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or comparable field
  2. Minimum of 3-5 years relevant experience
  3. General mechanical aptitude
  4. High levels of initiative and resourcefulness; capable of operating with minimal direction.
  5. Excellent organizational skills, documentation ability, attention to detail.
  6. Goal oriented; ability to maintain the greater picture while operating in the details.
  7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated cross-functional leadership ability.
  8. Structured approach to problem solving.
  9. Automotive product lifecycle / product development process knowledge a plus.
  10. Experience with PTC Windchill, Windows/MS, virtual collaboration tools a plus.
  11. Experience with castings, machining castings, or injection molded products a plus.
  12. Automotive braking/chassis systems and vehicle dynamics knowledge preferred but not required.
