Overview


Client is a large oil and gas services company covering the full lifecycle of the production process.


As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the development and implementation of mechanical systems, components, and products within the subsurface department of drilling technologies & downhole tools. Leveraging your expertise in mechanical engineering principles, CAD software, and project management, you will lead and contribute to the design process from conception to production. Your innovative solutions and meticulous attention to detail will drive the success of projects while ensuring they meet technical requirements and industry standards.


Responsibilities


  • Design Development: Lead the conceptualization, design, and development of mechanical systems and components, ensuring alignment with project objectives and technical specifications.
  • CAD Modeling: Utilize CAD software (such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar tools) to create detailed 3D models and technical drawings for parts and assemblies.
  • Prototyping and Testing: Oversee the prototyping process, coordinating with manufacturing teams to produce prototypes for validation testing. Analyze test results and iterate designs to optimize performance and functionality.
  • Technical Analysis: Conduct thorough engineering analyses, including stress analysis, thermal analysis, and tolerance analysis, to validate design integrity and identify areas for improvement.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate cross-functionally with other engineering disciplines (such as electrical, software, and manufacturing engineers), as well as with product managers and stakeholders, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components into overall product designs.
  • Documentation: Prepare comprehensive design documentation, including technical specifications, bill of materials (BOM), assembly instructions, and engineering reports.
  • Quality Assurance: Implement quality control measures throughout the design process to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and product requirements.
  • Mentorship and Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering their professional growth and development. Lead by example, demonstrating best practices in mechanical design and engineering principles.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of advancements in mechanical engineering technologies, materials, and methodologies. Proactively identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency improvements within the design team.



Qualifications


  • Degree in Mechanical engineering or relevant engineering discipline
  • Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in mechanical design and product development, preferably in a senior or lead role.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks) and familiarity with simulation tools (such as Finite Element Analysis)
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex engineering concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Project management experience, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage timelines, and coordinate resources effectively.
  • Commitment to quality, safety, and regulatory compliance in all aspects of design and development.
