The Senior Database Administrator (DBA) will play a crucial role, responsible for providing production support, monitoring, troubleshooting, and reviewing database queries and stored procedures, as well as scripting, maintaining, and tuning the performance of all databases. Familiarity with Windows administration is required, and active involvement in ongoing initiatives is expected.


The Senior Database Administrator will exhibit a strong eagerness to learn new technologies and concepts, actively seeking opportunities to add value, enhance efficiency, and increase productivity. Operating within a demanding environment, the Senior DBA will be empowered to

deliver quality support. This position involves supporting highly critical applications 24/7 and adhering to stringent service levels.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitors and optimizes the performance of application databases to meet performance and service level agreements. Participates in allocated DBA tasks, SQL, Oracle installation, upgrades, patching, backup and recovery, tuning, performance monitoring, day-to-day support, and Support OS patching cycles. Configures and maintains database servers and processes while proactively monitoring system health and performance. Ensures a high level of performance, availability, sustainability, and security while analyzing, solving, and correcting issues in real time. Provides suggestions for automation of routine tasks, and audit support, and offers advice and guidance on database technology for new business systems. Refines and automates regular processes, tracks issues, and documents changes. Assists developers with query tuning and schema refinement. Performs scheduled maintenance and supports release deployment activities after hours.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves production incidents and participates in bridge calls in coordination with the application support team in meeting the SLAs. Oversees continuous initiatives, including server and system upgrades and ensures currency is maintained. Collaborates with internal teams and vendors to resolve production issues when required. Participates in disaster recovery (BCP) exercises.


Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Certifications:
  • Database Administration, Azure Database Administration, Azure SQL Solutions, Oracle Database Administration, Java


Experience:

  • Five to ten years of progressive experience in Database administration.
  • Demonstrated experience with backups, restores, and recovery models; High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR)
  • options for SQL Server.
  • Proven experience with 2 or more of the following technologies: Windows servers, Backups, Networking, Firewalls &
  • Monitoring.
  • Experience in replication, partitioning, disaster recovery, and high-availability solutions.
  • Broad experience in clustering high availability, fault-tolerant systems, SAN.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong expertise in SQL Server & Oracle database administration with extensive experience in Performance Tuning and
  • Optimization (PTO).
  • Strong expertise in the installation and support of SQL Server in an enterprise environment.
  • Proven expertise in Windows servers, including Active Directory.
  • Working knowledge of SSRS; SSIS; SQL Agent; C#, as well as one or more of the following RDBMS: MySQL and DB2.
  • Understanding of the work on the concepts of server virtualization.
  • Performance monitoring, tuning, space, and size management.
  • Database Server Security, User Creation and Right Permission, Database, and Storage Encryption technologies (Data in motion and at rest).
  • Ability to understand the deployment process and provide recommendations on improving the process.
  • Proficiency in Scripting, SQL, PL/SQL, shell, and Python.
  • Demonstrates a sense of ownership and pride in performance, recognizing its impact on the success of the organization.
  • Must possess great time-management skills, great interpersonal and communication skills, and be a team player with critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
