We’re looking for a creative Pet Apparel Technical Designer to bring innovative ideas to our growing brand.


Job Overview:

We are seeking a Pet Apparel Technical Designer who combines creativity, technical expertise, and a deep knowledge of fabrics and fashion design. This role requires a strong foundation in textile innovation, understanding of both dog and cat anatomy and physiology, and a passion for creating pet products that balance style with comfort. You will develop collections that reflect LA’s outdoor lifestyle while incorporating cutting-edge fabric technology to create practical, durable, and comfortable apparel for pets and their humans.


Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop pet apparel collections for dogs and cats, from concept to final product, including seasonal lines, activewear, and lifestyle pieces.
  • Strong knowledge of fabrics and materials: Select innovative, functional textiles that ensure pet comfort, durability, and safety. This includes breathable, hypoallergenic, water-resistant, and sustainable fabrics.
  • Create design sketches, tech packs, and prototypes that prioritize comfort, functionality, and style.
  • Textile innovation: Research and integrate the latest advancements in textile technology into designs (e.g., moisture-wicking, odor-resistant, and eco-friendly materials).
  • Utilize 3D design software and animation tools (CLO 3D, Marvelous Designer, etc.) for prototyping
  • Ensure designs accommodate pet accessories like collars and harnesses, keeping functionality top of mind.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and pet apparel innovations, ensuring LA Pet Apparel remains on the cutting edge.
  • Conduct fittings and prototyping on various pet sizes and breeds to ensure the best fit and performance.
  • Collaborate with marketing and branding teams to align designs with brand storytelling and seasonal campaigns.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills
  • 3+ years of experience designing pet apparel or related fashion products, with a strong focus on textile innovation.
  • Extensive knowledge of fabric properties and material selection, with a focus on breathable, hypoallergenic, durable, and functional textiles for pets.
  • Experience working with both dogs and cats, with an understanding of their body types, movements, and comfort needs.
  • Proficiency in 3D design software (CLO 3D, Marvelous Designer, Blender, etc.) and animation.
  • Strong knowledge of sustainable materials and an interest in eco-friendly production methods.
  • Familiarity with the pet community and enthusiasm for creating products that enhance pets’ comfort and activity.
  • Creative thinker with a blend of aesthetics and functionality to deliver stylish, high-performing pet products.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.


Bonus Skills:

  • Knowledge of pet product safety regulations and best practices.
  • Experience in merchandising and marketing, especially within an eCommerce framework.

Illustration and graphic design skills for product branding or packaging.
