Synergis’ client, a leader delivering IoT solutions for multi-tenant / multi-family housing, has engaged us in a search for a tenured Low Voltage Systems Technician who will be responsible for the troubleshooting, maintenance and installation of Audio / Visual & Access Control Systems (primary focus) as well as IP Cameras, Smart Thermostats, Smart Locks, Security & Fire Alarm systems and digital displays within newly constructed multi-tenant dwellings.


Brivo Systems Technician | Background and Scope

  • Onsite repair, troubleshooting, maintenance and installation of network connections & smart devices / low voltage systems with a specific focus on Brivo Equipment
  • Terminate, troubleshoot, tag, tone, twisted pair (mainly Ethernet) and coax as a requirement (For coax, RG6, RG11, and 1/2” specific experience.)
  • Fiber experience would be a strongly preferred
  • An ability to “think on your feet” and adapt to changing technical and customer circumstances.
  • Provide an EXEMPLARY level of support to clients during installation, maintenance and repair of equipment
  • Develop an on-going customer relationship, resulting in future customer loyalty
  • Relay field repetitive failures / quality issues to the team and management.
  • Work with programmers to load updated Control Programming Files and test changes as needed
  • Escalate issues for further support through the services team members
  • Articulate troubleshooting actions, next step actions, recommendations and/or resolution prior to leaving client or before the end of day site where possible
  • Wireless (primarily), Coax, ethernet and fiber optic cable testing and troubleshooting
  • Maintain constant communication with support desk with regards to job related issues & completion.

Brivo Systems Technician – A/V & Access Control | Requirements

  • Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent work experience
  • 4+ years’ experience installing and maintaining low voltage systems including:
  • Access Control Systems
  • Audio Visual Systems
  • 2+ years’ experience supporting one or more of the below:
  • Security Systems (Crime Prevention Systems)
  • Fire Alarm Systems
  • Smart Devices
  • Digital Displays
  • Previous experience working with an Audio-Visual services provider
  • Experience with and understanding of networking concepts
  • IP subnetting and the OSI model
  • LAN / WAN / WLAN / SDWAN
  • Routing protocols such as BGP, EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS, RIP, etc.
  • Knowledgeable of low voltage electrical concepts i.e., Ohms law
  • Strong background in networking protocols related to IoT Devices
  • Ability to:
  • Understand access control/IP Camera Security systems.
  • Install anything Smart Locks, Smart Thermostats, IP Cameras, Digital Displays and other related IoT devices.
  • Troubleshoot and fix any problems that may arise during the installation process.
  • Able to read and understand functional design drawings as well as cable riser diagrams and all architectural drawings
  • Superior client relationship management is a requirement for this position (i.e. exhibiting the ability to create an atmosphere of tension relief during high stress encounters)
  • Familiarity with a wide range of audio, video and networking equipment


Brivo Systems Technician – A/V & Access Control | Preferred

  • Previous experience working with an Audio/Visual specific services company strongly preferred


Brivo Systems Technician – A/V & Access Control | Other:

  • Travel: Varies between projects, but anywhere from 30% to 60%
  • Auto travel primarily
  • Overnight travel in some circumstances may be required
  • Full time position with some work being performed after-hours / weekends
  • Demonstrate a legal ability to work within the United States via I9 verification. Ability to work for any US based company without sponsorship now or anytime in the future

The compensation range for this position is $65,000 to $75,000

(dependent on factors including but not limited to client requirements, experience, statutory considerations, and location).
