The Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (USDB) invites you to consider an employment opportunity with our Agency. We are looking for a reliable and responsible candidate to fill a School Bus Driver position. This position is located in Ogden. Travel is required between all USDB campuses.

*Working schedule: Monday - Friday for up to 7.5 hours per day for nine months (181) during each school year.*

Principal Duties:

Drives a school bus exceeding 26,000 pounds GVW and operates related equipment to transport disabled (deaf/hard-of-hearing, blind/visually impaired, developmentally disabled, etc.) students affiliated with the Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind to various off-campus events and activities; Performs other duties as assigned.
The Ideal Candidate:
The model candidate for this position is someone who: has or is willing to obtain before official start date a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver License (CDL) with School Bus and Passenger Endorsements, air brake training. Clean driving record Be able to run, maneuver, navigate, and drive a school bus Knowledge of school bus operation, routing, and safety Knowledge of traffic control and safety procedures; applicable laws, rules, regulations, and policies and procedures Successful completion of a criminal background check.

Retirement - Utah Retirement Systems (URS) :

Employees who have any service credit with an employer covered by the Utah Retirement Systems prior to 7/1/2011 are in the Tier I Public Employees System.

Employees hired on or after 7/1/2011 and who have never been in the URS retirement system have two options for retirement in the Tier II System. 

Tier 2 Hybrid Retirement System. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary between both plans (pension and 401(k))

Tier 2 Defined Contribution Plan. Employer contributes an amount equal to 10% of your salary to a 401(k) plan only.

Employer contributions to your 401(k) are vested after four years.

Paid Time Off :

Annual leave and sick leave are accrued at 4 hours per pay period each (4 hours annual, 4 hours sick).

Annual leave amounts increase with years of service. 

We have 12 paid holidays.
