Rincon Research Corporation is seeking a summer Systems Administration Intern. This is a part time position that will get you involved in Linux, Windows, phone systems, networking, security, scripting. This will serve as an excellent entry point into a wide variety of opportunities to grow and develop your skills and interests. You will be working with a supportive local IT team, and a larger team spread across our other offices.

What are the primary responsibilities in the Systems Administrator Intern position?

This role is primarily focused on the end user support and systems maintenance which includes desktops, equipment’s, services, and asset management. This will include troubleshooting, solution documentation, installation, and configuration of hardware and software in person, over the phone, and through messaging services such as email and chat.

It will be expected that you to become 8570 certified within 90 days.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Performing system and office deployments to include computers and peripheral devicesSupporting, managing, and maintaining the configuration and installation of end user workstationsMaintaining asset and consumable inventoriesMaintaining computer and server labs, to include installation and capacity managementPerforming system administrative maintenance tasks, such as security remediation and patchingAssisting in creating and updating training materials pertaining to computer troubleshooting and usage

Preferred skills:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with employees at all levelsExperience programming, such as writing scriptsWorking knowledge of server and PC hardware
