RN Hospice Clinical Preceptor

Day Shift / 40hrs/wk

The Hospice Preceptor will conduct joint visits with hospice nurses to assure the employees competency to care for hospice and palliative care patients 

according to policies and procedures which comply to state, federal, and accreditation guidelines and regulations. They will carry a small caseload to 

manage and utilize for new hires competency. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. The preceptor partners with the Supervisor of Clinical Services/Hospice Manager to support understanding and addressing clinical components related to quality, OSHA, State and Federal regulations.

2. The Preceptor will coordinate with the Hospice Educators for the overall orientation of the new hire. 

3. The preceptor will ensure the competency of the clinical staff by making hospice joint visits, reviewing documentation and teaching case management.

4. The Preceptor will coordinate patient care and report patient changes to the SCS/ Hospice Manager.

5. The preceptor will make hospice visits and admissions when not orientating new hires while meeting the productivity expectations for the hospice team and maintain a small caseload of patients.

6. The preceptor will continue to meet the learning needs of hospice RNs and or LPNs ongoing.

7. Other tasks may be assigned by the Director in support of primarily the Education and Quality Department as needed. 

Education:  

Three (3) years’ experience in acute care/home care/public health administration. Preferred two years’ experience in staff development. Teaching experience in an acute care, home health or public health arena.

Experience:

RN with 2-3 years of home hospice experience with a preference of Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an NLN accredited college or university


Day Shift / 40hrs/wk

Salary Range: $40.0000 To $52.0000 Annually
