Seattle, United States Amazon.com Services LLC Full time
This is a rare leadership opportunity to holistically own a core part of Amazon’s shopping experience with a team undergoing rapid investment and growth. We are looking for a strong, passionate leader to fill an SDM role responsible for a critial component of WW Pricing customer perception and experience. In this SDM role, you will lead an engineering team and own high throughput, low latency services that evaluate if a price should be prominently displayed to Amazon customers. You will build new systems that make decisions on which signals to consider when evaluating a price, and will have ownership over the thresholds that disqualify atypically high prices from being featured to Amazon customers. This is a fast-paced team with recently built native AWS and datapath APIs and low technical debt/operational overhead. In addition to the core features described above and the backend services and data infrastructure that power them, there is a rich roadmap of full new features planned for years to come that will transform the way our customers can understand the value of low prices.

Key Responsibilities:
- Hire, coach and lead a team of SDEs
- Collaborate with senior leaders to develop data-informed business and product strategy
- Partner with our ML team to build a novel infrastructure that can power our pricing strategies, both for prices that are delightfully low and prices that are higher than usual and do not meet our standards to be featured to customers
- Lead planning and execution of the team's roadmap
- Provide guidance and thought-leadership on best practices to team members and business partners

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Seattle, WA, USA

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 5+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 5+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
