For over 25 years, National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions) has specialized in connecting experienced workers (ages 55+) with full-time and part-time job opportunities that support the critical missions of Federal Agencies across the United States. NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS). These experienced professionals provide administrative, scientific, and technical support to the Agricultural Research Service through the Experienced Worker Program (EWP). *This position will be open until filled.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 20 year(s) of experience in sugarcane harvest sampling and data collection. OR AA Degree in N/A

  • Experience operating 125-hp and larger tractors and operating weigh wagons with load cells used to collect field yield data in sugarcane fields. Also experience in troubleshooting electronics associated with weigh wagons.
  • Experience required with Windows, MS Word
Duties:

Operate equipment needed to obtain sugarcane field yield data during harvest season. These include specialized 5-ton weigh wagons with load cells in axles that area unique to Louisiana sugarcane production. Physical requirements include climbing into tractor cab, troubleshooting weigh wagon, may require lifting up to 50 pounds.

  • Operate weigh wagon on the USDA Ardoyne Research Farm to assist scientists harvesting research plots.   100%
