Responsible for managerial and clerical duties to maximize the effectiveness of the principal’s efforts

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education/Certification:

High School Diploma or GED

Business College or technical school preparation, preferred

 

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Excellent language skills both written and verbally

Demonstrate knowledge of using office technology

Organizational and interpersonal skills

 

Experience:

Three (3) to five (5) years of secretarial or office management experience, preferred

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

  1. Make and receive telephone calls for the principal.
  1. Maintain school records and files for principal.
  1. Serve as confidential secretary to principal.
  1. Review principal’s mail and prioritize it.
  1. Type, prepare, distribute, and file records, reports and correspondence as directed.
  1. Process time sheets for building staff, as required.
  1. Take notes for correspondence.
  1. Keep principal’s calendar and schedule appointments.
  1. Oversee and ensure general operation of the office.
  1. Maintain teacher handbook.
  1. Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards.
  1. Perform other duties assigned by immediate supervisor (primary evaluator).

Computer, typewriter, copier, adding machine, fax machine, printer and other office machines

Prolonged use of computer; prolonged sitting; working with frequent interruptions

Pay Grade: CT-05

 

Hourly Pay Range:

Minimum:    $18.50

Maximum:  $25.82

 

Note:   Starting pay for a new hire in a pay range plan will be determined indvidually based on each person's job-related experience and salaries paid to peer employees in the same position with similar experience.
