Shift: Nights / 7p-7a (12x3) 36 hours per week

Length: 13 weeks

Weekend : Potential for every other weekend; may change dependent on unit needs

Requirements:

  • WA license
  • Minimum 1 year experience
  • Must have at least limited Psych Experience. Screen those with limited Peds/Ado Psych experience
  • Wound Care & Assessment Skills 
  • Must be comfortable working with children
  • BLS
  • PEARS or PALS
  • Experience with PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) preferred
  • Pediatric Population experience preferred

Position / Specialty: Behavioral Health RN (PBMU – Psychiatric and Behavioral Medicine Unit) *BH and Medical experience preferredStart date: MONDAYSShift : 3x12 NIGHT 1900-0700Ratios: 1:6-10Years of experience REQ: 1 Year MinimumFirst-timers accepted: YESWeekend REQ: Potential for every other weekend; may change dependent on unit needs.Certs REQ: BLS, PEARS or PALSIs on-call REQ: NOWill clinician float within scope to meet facility needs: PotentialOpen to accommodating block schedule: NOLocals accepted: YESPending License accepted: YES; WA RN license required, can apply if pending licensure.RTO Restrictions: Minimal; No RTO during first 2 weeks due to orientationGuaranteed Hours: YESSpecial Requirements:Acute psych unit treating children ages 6-17 with medical complexity for depression, disruptive behavior, autism spectrum, psychosis, eating disorders, conduct disorder, suicidal ideation and other medical conditions (i.e., Type 1 Diabetes, for example). Higher medical acuity than many behavioral health units typically have. **NG tubes, frequent calculations for diabetic care, carbohydrate/calorie/formula calculations routinely required for patient care delivery.High acuity, typically full census - **Travelers will work primarily in a medical capacity (not just behavioral health capacity) - wound care, diabetic calculations, NG tubes, etc.Candidates must have at least limited Psych Experience. Please screen those with limited Peds/Ado Psych experience.Experience with PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) preferred.Three zones of care 1. Adolescent Program 2. Autism zone 3. Child Program***No seclusion room and very limited use of restraints. Must be comfortable working with a "continuum of interventions" to manage disruptive behaviors. Staff carry walkie talkies for communication and escalation of risk.**staffing ratios include "mental health specialists" and RNs. .RNs are not responsible for all care just the care that requires RN involvement , focused assessments, meds, wound care etc.**Families are involved in care.Wound Care & Assessment Skills requiredPediatric Population Experience preferredTherapeutic communication skills needed, must be comfortable working with children.
