Washington, United States Network Designs Inc. Full time

Job Summary:

NDi is seeking a skilled and experienced Enterprise Storage Administrator (On-Prem/Cloud). The ideal candidate will be responsible for the administration, optimization, and maintenance of both on-premises and cloud-based storage systems. This role involves ensuring the data availability, reliability, security, and performance across a hybrid storage environment, which integrates traditional enterprise storage solutions (e.g., SAN, NAS) with cloud storage platforms (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google Cloud). The administrator will manage the day-to-day operations, monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement improvements to ensure efficient data storage across the DOJ IT operating environment.

This position requires strong expertise in enterprise storage systems and cloud storage technologies, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with IT and business teams to ensure seamless storage operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer, maintain and monitor enterprise storage systems, including SAN (Storage Area Network), NAS (Network Attached Storage), and cloud-based storage solutions.
  • Oversee the integration and management of on-premises resources in platforms such as Dell VxRail Hyperconverged Infrastructure, VmWare vShpere and cloud storage platforms to create a unified hybrid storage infrastructure.
  • Perform routine maintenance, upgrades, and patching on storage systems to ensure they are secure, stable, and performing optimally.
  • Manage cloud storage resources in platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud, including tasks such as provisioning, scaling, and monitoring.
  • Ensure efficient data transfers between on-premises storage and cloud storage services, using tools such as Azure Storage Sync, Azure Blob Storage, Azure NetApp Files or other hybrid cloud connectors.
  • Implement cost-optimization strategies for cloud storage, ensuring that storage usage aligns with DOJ business needs while minimizing expenses.
  • Implement and manage on-prem and hybrid backup solutions to ensure data is properly backed up both locally and in the cloud.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery (DR) and COOP plans that account for both on-premises and cloud storage systems, ensuring rapid recovery in case of failure.
  • Conduct regular failover/DR testing and verify the integrity of backups to ensure all critical data can be restored in the event of an outage or disaster.
  • Monitor storage systems using enterprise monitoring tools (e.g., System Center Operations Manager, Azure Monitor, VMWare vSphere, Cohesity) to ensure optimal performance and capacity utilization.
  • Monitor storage capacity and usage trends across both local and cloud environments, ensuring sufficient resources are available for future growth.
  • Provide recommendations for storage expansions, migrations, or upgrades based on analysis of current and future needs.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of all storage configurations, policies, and procedures for both on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Generate reports on storage usage, performance, capacity, and incidents, providing insights to management and helping guide future storage decisions.
  • Document backup schedules, recovery procedures, and disaster recovery plans for all hybrid storage systems.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in managing storage systems from vendors such as Dell EMC, VxRail, Hyperconverged Infrastructure, VMWare, vSphere, NetApp, HPE, or Pure Storage.
  • Familiarity with hybrid cloud storage integration tools such as Azure Blob Storage, Azure NetApp Files and Cohesity Cloud storage
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise backup solutions and disaster recovery planning

Education & Experience:

  • B.S. degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • 3-5 years of experience in enterprise storage administration (SAN, NAS, DAS) and cloud storage platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud

Requirements:

  • U.S.Citizenship is required.
  • Candidate must be able to obtain Public Trust clearance.
  • This position is currently hybrid (remote/onsite) and will require working on site, at minimum two days a week.
