Responsibilities

We are searching for a Quarry Supervisor for our plant in Cape Girardeau, MO.

Essentail Functions:

Supervises & coordinates the activities & training of the Quarry Diesel Mechanics and Maintenance Mechanics regarding preventative maintenance programs, housekeeping, all mobile equipment repair and Quarry stationary equipment repairs. Works with the Quarry Superintendent to implement and maintain these programs. Assists the Quarry Superintendent in coordinating the activities of the Quarry department with other departments in the Plant. Directs drilling, blasting, stripping and loading of limestone and maintaining and relocating Quarry access haul roads. Maintains high levels of equipment availability by effectively communicating and coordinating with the Maintenance Department and outside contractors on the condition of stationary and mobile equipment. Checks storage facilities and determines assignments for loading and hauling to assure an adequate supply of limestone inventory to meet production requirements. Responsible for MSHA safety training program and maintaining appropriate accident records. Investigates and reports on accidents, incidents or near-misses involving employees and equipment. Responsible for supervising, coordinating & evaluating the activities, weekly scheduling and payroll timekeeping information of the hourly employees reporting to this position. Works with blasting contractor, corporate mining engineer and Quarry Superintendent in designing, scheduling and monitoring shots. Functions as a safety leader in the Quarry by demonstrating a personal commitment to working safely and ensuring the Quarry continues to eliminate work related risks by use of our hazard recognition program and effective use of our safety procedures. Accomplish production goals, keeps good records with regards to equipment maintenance, cycle times, production targets, requisition of materials and adherence to budgeted cost targets. Works with Quarry personnel to optimize and reduce costs through continuous improvement activities and develop purchase requisitions using software provided. Supervise the Quarry operations during times when the Quarry Superintendent is absent & work with them to develop short range & annual objectives. Establishes and maintains communications within the department needed to execute plans and objectives of the Quarry. Ensures effective communication with other departments within the Plant. Must be able to work off shift hours and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

High School diploma or GED required.

Bachelor’s Degree in either Mining or Geological Engineering or 5 years mining experience preferred.

3+ years of Quarry mining and crushing required.

5+ years mine supervision preferred.

Union experience preferred.
