Job Summary

Provides spiritual care and guidance to patients, family members and employees. Coordinates and acts in the name of the Director of Pastoral Care as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Education: Master of Divinity with CPE
Minimum Years of Experience: 4 Years of experience as a pastor/religious leader (1 year of which has been in a supervisory capacity)
Substitutable Education & Experience: None.
Required Certifications/Licensure: Ordained and/or certified as a religious leader by a recognized religious group; Licensed, ordained or commissioned by a religious group endorsed by appropriate ecclesiastical authority.
Required Training: None.

Essential Functions
  • Visits patients and families, administers sacraments and conducts religious services as requested and documents appropriately.
  • Documents in Electronic Health Records on behalf of Associate Chaplains as needed.
  • Assists in leadership of Pastoral Care Department through developing skills in newer chaplains via the shadowing process, leading in-services and orientation process as needed.
  • Cooperates with the multidisciplinary healthcare providers in assisting patients and family members to cope with situations surrounding hospitalization, including surgery, end-of-life issues, and death.
  • Assists local clergy in their ministry to patients and family members.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assists in providing spiritual resources for persons of all faith groups and beliefs.
  • Participates in special projects as directed or requested.
  • Maintains denominational affiliation.
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Carries out the goals of the Department of Pastoral Care.
