This position is through OSU’s college of Forestry, with the Forest Animal Ecology Lab led by Dr. James Rivers. It exists to assist in the collection of data on bee communities in sagebrush/steppe areas as part of an externally funded project. Why OSU? 20%: Quantify floral resources.
20%: Quantify nesting and vegetation habitat.
20%: Perform daily data collection and entry.
10%: Assist with daily routine, tasks, and checklists.
7.5%: Communicate with other crew members and leads to make sure tasks are completed.
2.5%: Assist with additional project-related duties as needed. What We Require
Two years of college-level courses in (specific field of biological science); OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Proven track record of working in a safe, efficient, and cooperative manner in a team setting.This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030. What We Would Like You to Have One or more seasons of field work experience.
Experience with insect collection and identification.
Previous experience sampling pollinators in field settings.
Familiarity with flora of sagebrush/steppe habitat of eastern Oregon.
Demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity. Working Conditions / Work Schedule This will primarily be a field-based job involving irregular work hours and/or days. This position requires working in isolated areas without internet or reliable cell coverage and with a small group of people. This position may require camping and long hours of driving and potentially hiking in uneven/rugged terrain to photo locations and study sites.
