The primary purpose of the Audiologist is to function as an independent professional and service provider who supports the otolaryngology physicians, sees patients referred from other providers and patients needing hearing aids services. They also determine the type and degree of hearing impairment and implement habilitation and rehabilitation services.  Additionally, this role will develop marketing strategies and initiatives to promote growth of the hearing aid practice. This role will report to the Medical Director.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administer hearing tests and examines patients to collect information on type and degree of impairment for both clinical support & hearing devices.
  • Evaluate hearing and balance disorders to determine diagnoses and courses of treatment.
  • Maintain patient records at all stages, including initial and subsequent evaluation and treatment activities.
  • Fit, dispense, and repair assistive devices, such as hearing aids.
  • Plan and conduct treatment programs for patients' hearing or balance problems, consulting the necessary health care personnel as needed.
  • Counsel and instruct patients and their families in techniques to improve hearing and communication related to hearing loss.
  • Monitor patients' progress and provides ongoing observation of hearing.
  • Instruct patients in communication strategies to maximize effective receptive communication.
  • Recommend assistive devices according to patients' needs or nature of impairments.
  • Refer patients to additional medical or educational services if needed.
  • Educate and supervise audiology students and health care personnel.
  • Develop and supervise hearing screening programs.
  • Examine and clean patients' ear canals.
  • Have an awareness of operating cost and fulfill responsibility to contain cost.
  • Record daily activities in Sycle.
  • Must be able to work in team environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Au.D. or Master's Degree in Audiology.
  • At least 1 to 3 years of experience.  Will consider recent graduate.
  • Complex problem solving, judgment and decision making.
  • Strong organizational skills and time management are essential to prioritize daily work.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and critical-thinking skills.
  • Must be a team player, to accept constructive criticism and be able to follow work rules.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Audiologist licensed in good standing in Indiana.  All employees are required to provide proof of vaccination or exemption.

Must have current licensure from the Indiana Department of Professional Regulation, and possess a Certificate of Clinical Competency in Audiology (if Master's prepared) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, for the purpose of student supervision.
