GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:

This position is part of the Institutional and Effectiveness team and may help analyze and report on student course data, credit and non-credit enrollment, utilization data and complete ad-hoc reports as needed to support institutional decision making. The Research Analyst works directly with administrative and instructional leaders to help develop surveys, evaluation, assessment plans, measure student learning outcomes, and support student success initiatives.This position reports to the Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness and exercises no supervision.

NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.


SELECTION CRITERIA:

Knowledge of: 1. Basic Institutional Research and higher education functions. 2. Policies and guidelines regarding facility use. 3. SAS and/or SPSS programming language. 4. Development of measurable outcomes. 5. Development of assessment plans. Skills in:  6. Proficiency with Microsoft applications, internal software, and assistive devices and software. 7. SAS. 8. Programming of any language. 9. Ellucians Colleague or Informer. Ability to 9. Work independently. 10. Perform high-level data entry. 11. Manage a portfolio of projects. 12. Work effectively with databases. 13. Read, interpret, and implement detailed, complex and often incomplete instructions. 14. Use critical and creative thinking skills to perform complex research projects. 15. Learn to generate and understand data reports using Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and SAS. 16. Learn features of SAS to automate report generation, create complex reports, and conduct descriptive statistics including charts and tables. 17. Effectively respond to requests from the public and community agencies. 18. Communicate clearly, professionally, effectively, and cooperatively with students, faculty, staff, and administrators. 19. Communicate the results of research in writing and in presentations to faculty, staff, and administrators.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

Sedentary-Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Minimal Hazard/Exposure-Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.


QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: More than one year of professional work experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience:  Professional work experience inSAS, SQL programming or advanced functions in a GUI interface such as Excel or similar reporting software.
