Summary/Purpose

This position will report directly to the Production Improvement Manager, supporting Continuous Improvement activities, TPS, Material Handling design, and traditional Industrial Engineering activities.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities:

Continuous Improvement Material Handling, Flow and Layouts TPS Support and Educational Tools Internal Packaging Design

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Provide engineering leadership to department consisting of PI Specialist. Provide leadership and support for TPS activities across the plant. Develop and plan projects that meet overall company objectives. Improve and maintain material layout and flow (racks, storage, equipment, handling devices, process improvement). Help create and visualize material handling control systems (Kanban, Type 3 standard work, etc.). Coordinate correction of floor problems (lost Kanban’s, mixed Kanban’s, supplier deviate from standard box, assist in accurate floor reporting). Material handling job flow (standards study including floor layout and spaghetti diagrams). Material handling process mapping and improvement of internal logistics (Material/Information Flow (MIF) charting. Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD) and Microsoft Office programs. Working knowledge of: Time and Motion Studies, A3’s, Lean Principles, Statistical Analysis (SPC). Ability to work overtime is an essential function of the position.

Education and Experience:

in Industrial Engineering and/or Engineering Technology. 2-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing facility, Automotive preferred.

Work is mostly performed in a normal office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards, and with substantial time spent working on a computer. Requires sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate computer keyboard and other office equipment. The performance of this position will require exposure to manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection. Travel by automobile and plane required approximately 10-20% of time.
