The primary focus of the Coordinator of Referrals and Academic Interventions is to coordinate care with a medical specialist outside of Campus Health to treat a medical condition and assist students who need to withdraw from a class / semester of classes or apply for a medical underload.

Specialist Referral Coordination:

Communicate with patients and community providers to schedule appointments with a specialist within the time frame specified by the patient’s Campus Health PCP. Obtain Prior Authorization when necessary. Ensure patient is being referred to a provider who is considered in-network with their insurance. Communicate potential out-of-pocket costs to patients. Transmit relevant medical records to specialist from referring provider and vice versa. Note actions taken on referral in electronic medical record.

Academic Intervention Coordination:

Collect required paperwork and medical documentation from requesting student and scan into practice management system for review by Campus Health medical staff. Advise student what specific documentation is required based on the nature of their request and provide direction on how to obtain it. Communicate with student and/or their academic advisor re: status of request or final decision. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Previous experience with referrals and prior authorizations. Comprehension of medical terminology. Familiarity with CPT / ICD-. Demonstrated problem-solving abilities. Professional verbal and written communication skills. Ability to independently prioritize a variety of assignments and to complete them with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience Excellent oral/written communication skills. Demonstrated attention to detail. Demonstrated organizational skills.
