As a Security Engineer I o­­n the Information Security, Engineering team responsible for engineering activities that monitor, detect and alert on potential security threats and vulnerabilities to the company's telecommunications data and database security. Works closely with network engineering and technical operations staff as security threats and support vulnerabilities are detected and coordinates the response to contain and mitigate the threat to Charter’s network. 

WHAT OUR SECURITY ENGINEERS I ENJOY MOST

Supporting the database security configuration and compliance for Imperva data security. Implementing and enforcing data protection policies and procedures, including data classification, and access controls, and service account abuse. Ensuring compliance with Cybersecurity framework and PCI standards for database security. Implementing database security controls. Performing database security assessments and vulnerability scanning. Developing and implementing data protection policies and procedures. Assessing PCI Standard controls and ensuring compliance. Staying current on database security best practices and emerging threats.

Required Qualifications

Experience: IT/network – 2+ yearsInformation security – 2+ yearsInformation security operations – 1+ yearsDemonstrated experience in handling information security events and incidents Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or related field or equivalent experience Technical skills :Knowledge of network and system security vulnerabilities and exploitsDemonstrated understanding of what is required to prevent security exploits, how to detect security attacks and anomalies and how to respond to security incidents and intrusionsBasic knowledge of forensic methodologies and best practices to investigate intrusions, preserve evidence and coordinate a unified security responseDemonstrated the ability to work across functional boundaries, build consensus and drive results Skills: Effective written and verbal communication skills and should have good presentation skills Abilities: Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.Ability to problem solve, balance competing priorities and manage through complexity and rapid change Schedule: Full timeOffice Environment

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Abilities and Knowledge :

CompTIA Security+ certification or equivalent foundational security certification.

(ISC)² SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner) certification or equivalent hands-on security experience.
