SUMMARY:  Responsible for the day to day functions associated with shipping including the direct supervision of all shipping employees with a focus on safety, quality, manpower scheduling and implementation of Lean/World Class Manufacturing. Additional responsibilities include providing leadership and motivation to employees through active participation and direction of activities, while delivering fair, firm and consistent treatment to all employees.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

Safety - Responsible for the safety of the team members in their areas of responsibility. Reduce accidents by implementing prevention measures suggested by plant safety teams. Conduct accident investigation and accident reporting. Assure all employees in their area of responsibility are trained on MSDS, Lockout/Tagout, Emergency Procedures and PPE. Communicate medical surveillance matters with the Human Resource Department. Five S/Housekeeping - Insure that work areas and equipment are clean, orderly and maintained in a safe condition to Five S standards. Quality - Directly responsible for product quality resolution in their areas of responsibility. Assure quality check sheets/work instructions are documented and being performed in their areas of responsibility.  World Class (Lean) Manufacturing Responsible for the implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles (within their respective areas) in order to eliminate waste in the form of labor, floor space, downtime and poor quality. Continuous Improvement - Responsible for identifying and reporting to the Supply Chain Manager opportunities for process improvements. Scheduling - Meet all schedules. Responsible for scheduling employee vacations, overtime, and training. Review time and attendance and insure accuracy of the time and attendance for all employees in their area of responsibility. Responsible for recommending manpower requirements. Communications - Communicate company policies and procedures and business matters to team members, management and other affected people. Communicate employee status changes to the Human Resource Department. Conduct performance reviews with employees in their area of responsibility. Training - Assure training needs of employees are identified and met. Assure training records are completed and forwarded to the Human Resource Department.  Discipline - Assure conformance with company work rules, policies, and procedures. Issue warnings for violations and administer approved disciplinary measures when necessary. Establishes standards for parts picking and shipping. Monitors standards for adherence and develops productivity plans on an annual basis. Responsible for all aspects of the REMSTAR automated retrieval system including loading and part configuration.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

Adhere to and follow environmental policies and procedures. Attend and participate in all department training activities. Serve as a trainer/facilitator as necessary. Perform all other duties as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Education and Experience:  High School Diploma is required.An Associates or Bachelors degree is preferred. Minimum seven years of manufacturing experience required, including at least 3 years in a supervisory/leadership role. High energy level and strong interpersonal skills. Must be able to make solid business decisions.

Communication Skills:  Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to effectively document employee issues, policy recommendations, and improvement opportunities.

Computer Skills:  To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of and PRMS or related business systems software. Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook skills are required.

Travel:  Must be willing to travel as needed.
