(DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES) Must be familiar with the welding processes/consumables/positions used in standard test welds and fabrication. Should have a thorough, in-depth knowledge of codes, standards, and specifications, both internal and external, in order to assess applicability to a particular product and/or test effort. Responsible for ongoing review of new codes, standards, and specifications to determine impact on department processes. Assists the Compliance Group Engineering Technologists in maintaining the database of product certifications to ensure timely renewals. Coordinates with both IT and Consumable R&D Engineers to maintain web access to certificates of conformance. Oversees the scheduling of work required to support the generation of certificates of conformance, statements of test, and agency classifications as required for product maintenance and new product introduction, with a broad focus on all North American Consumable Compliance activities. Verifies that all work is conducted in accordance with applicable procedures, drawings, and specifications prior to final issue of certificates. Facilitate annual surveillance by outside agencies (e.g. CWB, Lloyd’s Register, DNV, etc.). Able to assess cost of consumable product certification and conformance relative to product profitability. Responds to customer (internal and external) requests for information and service within the roles assigned. Special projects to facilitate product development and/or drive improvements in the efficiency of department processes. Create test plans and work flows of appropriate complexity for managing certification processes. May receive objective and technical advice from Compliance Technologists or the Manager of Consumable Compliance, but often works with a great deal of autonomy. May direct and train technicians. Additional responsibilities as required by Manager of Consumable Compliance

 BASIC REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering. Engineer II – Minimum of three (3) years Engineering experience Engineer III - Minimum of five (5) years Engineering experience preferred Background in coding is preferred. Must have a broad knowledge of the consumable product portfolio. Comprehensive knowledge of specifications (internal and external). Must have an unwavering commitment to testing integrity. Strong mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills. Ability to develop and maintain a positive and cooperative work environment with coworkers and supervisors. Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with strong written and oral communication skills. In depth understanding of welding processes and/or other applicable fabrication and test methods used for consumable development, certification and product support. Ability to establish procedures and make observations. Ability to train other technologists and technicians. Ability to organize and supervise multiple tasks simultaneously and independently. Proficient with basic personal computer software packages (e.g. MSWord, MSExcel, MSAccess and MSPowerPoint, as a minimum). Good communication skills and the ability to prepare reports, detailed specifications, etc. Must be self-motivated, safety and quality conscious.
