ELIGIBILITY SPECIALISTMonday – Thursday7:00 AM – 5:00 PM$11.00 per hour
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Acts as receptionist responding to inquiries on the Authority, screening calls, relaying messages and questions responding to inquiries and complaints from the public, follow-up on correcting problems, as needed.
  • Maintains the waiting lists for the Authority; records application data, prepares and sends letters to clients on the waiting lists requesting applicable information. Performing credit checks where applicable.
  • Prepares and sends letters to clients on waiting list notifying them according to date & time of application, always taking into consideration, preferences and broad range of income, where applicable, of housing availability. Issues and monitors the status of voucher to assure that it is properly used prior to expiration date.
  • Interview prospective residents to determine family composition, income, employment, and other relevant information in order to complete client applications, determine eligibility for housing.
  • Arranges and Prepares for briefing sessions as needed.
  • Assist in preparation and maintenance of tenant files, to include leases, contracts, and etc.
  • Perform follow up on file work needing signatures, to insure proper and complete paperwork for tenant file.
  • Compiles statistical information from a variety of sources as needed.
  • Receives payments for rents and other purposes, prepare receipts, and make appropriate accounting entries
  • Assist in maintaining the Available Units notebook for landlords listings of units available for the programs.
  • Typing as requested: general correspondence, pest control letters to appropriate apartments, excess utility statements and tenant file information.
  • Preparation and filing of maintenance work orders as needed.
  • Perform follow-up inspections as needed to determine compliance with previous requests for repairs and HQS.
  • Establish procedures and controls, in compliance with the Procurement Policy and the Disposition Policy, maintain central storeroom for office supplies, coordinating between Public Housing & Section 8.
  • Assist in inspecting existing housing for conformance to HUD Housing Quality Standards and the standards of this Authority.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • High School degree or equivalent training or minimum of 6 months related work experience in a business-related field
  • Must be bilingual
  • Prior customer service experience preferred.
  • Ability to review, record and organize written data from a variety of sources.
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, and the capacity to multi-task in a structured work environment, are required.
  • Ability to handle confidential and proprietary information is critical.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of customer and company information.
  • Proficiency with computers is mandatory.
