The primary purpose of this position is to support the exponential growth of our commercial business, consult with rep firms, architects, building owners, contractors, distributors, and installers on deciding what products are needed to meet specifications and code requirements. Provide technically detailed estimates to our rep firms. This position will also be responsible for understanding pricing models, profit margins and competitor pricing.

This person will develop a high level of proficiency with the technical aspects of the Sky Systems and VMS product. Will be able to read blueprints at the detail level necessary to initiate contact with the customer, create a clear quote and/or pass the lead on to the relevant local sales personnel. This person will also be comfortable issuing quotes and, in time, will become an expert over all aspects Sky Systems and VMS from a support function standpoint.

VELUX is the largest brand of skylights in the world but with a small market share in this custom segment, this individual will leverage the VELUX brand and new commercial specific products to help establish a footprint for commercial VELUX products. This will be accomplished by gaining share quickly through the conversion of existing commercial specialist companies that will specify and carry VELUX products. In parallel, a high level of specification for VELUX products needs to be achieved, and this will be accomplished through coordination with rep firms, architects, contractors and roofers. 

Primary Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility is to contribute to achieving the budgeted sales results by gaining share and developing a high level of specification for VELUX products in commercial projects. This individual is specifically tasked with:

Perform Material takeoffs from customer provided documentationDesign and Pre-Engineer daylighting solutionsDevelop cost analysis from take offGenerating formal written quotesReview changes to existing quotes and revising as requiredSupport customers and reps via email or telephoneReview project changes, provide change orders for project managementAnalyze commercial leads for VELUX product fit

Secondary Responsibilities:

Reconcile new orders to quotationReview new orders with Engineering/Drafters and project managementUpdate standard costing guides with complete build ups of materials/glazings – freight and finish cost analysis.

Base Monthly Salary: $5850 - $7315 Compensation is based on the skills and experience of the candidate.

Qualifications:

Associate degree is required. Bachelor’s degree is preferred.5 years related experience is required. Experience in domes or skylight/glazings preferred.Experience with complex estimating principles/proceduresPrevious experience obtaining firm quotes for material suppliers preferred.General SAP and C4C knowledge preferred.Practical manufacturing skills preferred.Experience reading and interpreting construction documents, drawings and specifications REQUIRED.Excellent communication skills, both oral and written and presentation skillAbility to negotiateGood time-management and task prioritization abilities.Proficient working knowledge of computer operation (AutoCAD, Lotus Notes, Microsoft Office)Project a positive and professional image.Overall good work, attendance and safety record.Ability to perform the essential functions assigned to the position.Understand the basic concepts of Geometry with an analytical mindset.Ability to work on multiple projects at onceCompliance with all rules of conduct, safety regulations and policies provided in Employee Handbooks, on Company bulletin boards/announcements, terms/conditions of employment or other means of communication is a requirement of the job.
