Job Title: Quality Technician Reports To: Quality Manager Department: 4400 – Salary Quality Control Location: Ice Industries Bowling Green ∙ 333 Van Camp Road ∙ Bowling Green, OH 43402 General Job Function: The Quality Technician is responsible for supporting production by approving first-piece setups and required checks per the control plan. Job Duties : Assist with quality investigations of all internal and external non-conformances of any returns from our customers. Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and rejecting and returning unacceptable materials. Approves in-process production by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and communicating required adjustments to the production supervisor. Approves finished products by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, returning products for re-work, and confirming re-work. Document inspection results by completing reports and logs, summarizing re-work and waste, and inputting data into a quality database. Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions; calling for repairs. Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations. Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications. Accomplishes quality and organization mission by completing related results as needed. Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned, including projects or assignments to support the plant. Working Conditions: The Quality Technician is a safety-sensitive position working directly with machinery and equipment. Frequent exposure to a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment where ambient air temperature can occasionally exceed outside air temperature. Must be able to sit and view a computer screen for extended periods. Must be able to bend at the waist and knees, walk and stand for extended periods. Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 40 pounds when necessary. Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl under or over, and frequently climb (stairs). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be flexible and able to change schedule and hours of work to meet the needs of the organization Required Education, Experience & Skills: 2-year associate's degree with 2-4 years of manufacturing and quality experience or equivalent education, training, and quality experience in a manufacturing environment. Must be computer literate and proficient with Windows and MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Strong communication, both oral and written, and interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships at multiple levels to work cross-organizationally toward solutions Ability to read and interpret technical instructions, including customer specifications and quality standards. Ability to self-motivate, problem-solve, and work in a dynamic environment Extreme attention to detail and the ability to think strategically Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide inches and pounds using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Hands-on knowledge and experience in roll forming and tooling are preferred. Proficient in precision measuring tools and gages. Excellent knowledge of SPC, GD &T., C&PA, Quality management systems, and ISO:9001 Root cause analysis and comprehensive customer 8D Experience in operating a CMM or FARO arm, precision measuring equipment, and gauges.
