Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. We are currently seeking a Title & Survey Coordinator to support the Corporate practice, reporting to the Director of Practice Management - Corporate.

The role will reside in the Dallas office with hybrid work capabilities and will be responsible for complex title and survey review and analysis, and working independently within the Real Estate section of the Corporate practice. The Title & Survey Coordinator is expected to perform all responsibilities with a commitment to providing superior service to the firm’s attorneys and staff, and maintaining an atmosphere of teamwork and continuous improvement. 

Key responsibilities of this position include :

Providing support in all aspects of real estate transactions, with an emphasis on managing substantive, complex title and survey review. Ordering and conducting detailed review and analysis of title commitments, recorded documents, and surveys. Writing title review summaries and objection letters and managing checklists relating to title matters. Independently working with title companies and surveyors to resolve issues and discrepancies, clear title exceptions, and obtain final title commitments, proformas, and ALTA surveys for closings; obtaining services from other outside vendors as needed, and processing billing and disbursement paperwork in connection with such services. Under attorney supervision, drafting various real estate documents, including easements, SNDAs, affidavits, lease amendments, memorandums of lease, estoppels, title curative instruments, and other documents. Tracking tasks and phases of projects and communicating progress to teams as issues and/or items are resolved. Performing research as necessary for various real estate and title issues. General transaction management and execution, including preparing closing documents, closing checklists, coordinating lien searches, entity formation, drafting organizational documents, and preparing authority certificates and resolutions. Establishing strong rapport and working relationships with key attorneys, paralegals and other administrative staff within the practice.

Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

Bachelor’s degree preferred, Paralegal Certificate required 20 years supporting a commercial Real Estate practice group in a law firm environment required Strong experience and focus on title and survey review and management Understanding of and experience with discrete title survey requirements and processes in lending transactions preferred Strong oral and written communication skills Proficiency in Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, and Excel Excellent organization skills and attention to detail Strong research, analytical, and writing skills Ability to work proactively and demonstrate initiative Ability to work independently, multi-task and prioritize among competing tasks under pressure and time constraints Good judgment and a strong sense of responsibility, integrity, and loyalty Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of client, firm, and office information and adhering to the Firm’s Core Values  Commitment to professional growth and development
