Job Description Summary

The L.I.G.H.T. Program is seeking a full-time summer intern who will work in the Campus Ministry office and will be responsible for planning for the service and social justice initiatives for the 2024-2025 year. Candidates should have at least 1 year of experience participating in service at Stonehill College and should clearly understand the mission of the L.I.G.H.T. Program. Job Requirements DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Serve as liaison between Stonehill’s L.I.G.H.T. Program & community partners
• Organize logistics of pilot Pre-Orientation program for first-year students
• Be in contact with L.I.G.H.T. Leaders throughout the summer regarding details about training, meetings, and expectations
• Orchestrate creation of L.I.G.H.T. Leader binders and summer training
• Create and update volunteer database for Center for Service & Social Justice in collaboration with Marketing department
• Assist with planning of Social Justice Theme Months
• Plan and organize materials for Community Engagement Orientation for first-time volunteers
• Update reflection materials for coordinators
• Research current trends in service and social justice and plan campus events accordingly
• Meet weekly with Campus Minister for Community Engagement
• Visit community partners to assess past academic year and plan ahead for upcoming year • Assist with planning for Community Engagement Day during First-Year Orientation
• Attend local service and social justice events as necessary and represent Stonehill College’s L.I.G.H.T. Program
• Meet with staff members on campus involved in service initiatives to assess our community engagement
• Assist with recruitment of students, staff, and faculty in programming
• Create or update marketing materials for the program as needed
QUALITIES REQUIRED
• Demonstrated commitment to service
• One year or more of volunteer experience through L.I.G.H.T. Program or equivalent (can be in high school); ideally a student who has served or will serve as a leader
• Personal interest in issues related to social justice and social change
• Driver’s license and willingness to be van certified
• Self-starter & willingness to work on one’s own

EXPECTATIONS OF COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM SUMMER INTERN
• Understands and positively challenges and promotes the Mission of the L.I.G.H.T. Program
• Has a high level of commitment to the L.I.G.H.T. Program and Campus Ministry including but not limited to being available during the established hours and fulfilling the duties and responsibilities outlined above
• Ability to articulate and live out the mission of the L.I.G.H.T. Program
• Dedication to communication with supervisor (and other members of Campus Ministry Staff) concerning hours, workload, supervisor’s style, expectations, tasks, etc.
• Intern is committed to and accountable for follow-through on all tasks assigned.
• Uphold all values consistent with the Code of Student Conduct and Office of Campus Ministry
• Model behavior, participation, reflection, and maturity
